The exterior of the 3rd Generation Audi A8 features a very familiar but distinctive design language. The front end features narrow, sleek, angular side-swept headlights, a very large trapezium-shaped chrome front grille, and standard circular fog lamps. Options include a choice between 3 different styles of rims and carbon fiber trim pieces. The rear end features narrow, sleek LED taillights, a slim chrome trim piece running the length of the trunk, and a large rear bumper. The S8 and the S8 Plus feature a slightly different and more Sport-designed language. The front end houses a slightly larger front bumper with larger air intakes and a front splitter, the rear end houses a sports exhaust system and rear diffuser while the S8 Plus features a lip spoiler. The facelift variant of the Audi A8 features Matrix glare-free LED headlights and taillights. The overall exterior of the 3rd Generation Audi A8 features very stubble aggressive styling cues and a very proportioned and elegant shape.

The interior of the 3rd Generation Audi A8 features the same familiar modern Audi design language. It is comprised of a choice between walnut brown, Assam Gray Vavona, Fine Grain Ash Gold Brown, and Velvet Brown Fine Grain Ash wood trim panelling (Carbon Fibre trim panelling in S8 and S8 Plus standard). The front and rear seats are covered in a choice of black, beige, brown, and ivory-silver leather. Standard features include power soft-closing doors, four-zone climate control, sunroof, power rear side and rear sunshades, ambient LED interior lighting, 18-way power front seats, 7-inch multi-information display with satellite navigation, cruise control, rearview camera, automatic windscreen wipers and a 14-speaker BOSE Surround sound system with SD Card, iPod, Bluetooth, CD, AUX and USB input. Options include diamond-stitched leather in a choice between black, beige, brown, and ivory silver leather premium leather, ventilated front seats with massage function, heads up display, Audi side assist, top view camera, heated rear seats, heated multifunction steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, rear seat entertainment system, rear picnic tables (A8 L only), and Power outboard rear seats with power lumbar adjustment, ventilation, and massage function (A8 L only). The overall interior of the 3rd Generation Audi A8 features a great amount of interior space in both the front and rear for a sedan of its exterior dimensions.
